Sherry is our resident Hunter/Jumper rider and barn manager at Gatewood Farms Sporthorses. Sherry grew up in the small town of Haileybury, ON. Canada and was an active member of the Temiskaming Pony Club for twelve years. During this time she achieved her B Level rating and began to realize her dreams to one day become a top level competitor.
By the age of eighteen she moved away and trained with top Olympians such as Peter Grey, Julie Gomena, and Stuart Black.
With great help and support she achieved some of her goals by competing successfully in 3day eventing at the Advanced level with many top placings including a spot on the Long List for the 2004 Olympics.
In 2003-04 Sherry worked and trained at top Steeplechase facility Kinross Farms. In 2004 she was 2nd overall Novice Flat Rider at the American Point to Point Association standings.
Since 2005 Sherry has been spending her time training and competing in the Hunter and Jumper ring. In this time she has worked with top show jumping trainer Mariano Bedoya. She has her sights set on competing at the Grand Prix level in the near future.






Trae LaPorte is the resident dressage trainer at Gatewood Farms Sporthorses. At the age of sixteen he discovered his passion for dressage and by the age of seventeen moved to Wellington Fl. to apprentice with Danish Olympian Bent Jensen.
Under the guidance of Bent Jensen, Trae qualified for the 2003 North American Young Riders held in Bromont Canada, where he helped Region III win gold medal.
In 2004 Trae worked with head trainer of the Spanish Riding School, Ernst Hoyos, in Mepen, Germany.
From 2005-06 Trae studied with six time US Olympian Robert Dover in Wellington, Fl. and in the Hamptons of Long Island, NY.
Since 2006 Trae has been training and competing dressage horses of all levels at his home base here in Cordele, Ga. where he continues to work with his mentor Bent Jensen.
Trae follows the Classical Training method with all of his horses. He teaches his students with a "hands on" approach by communicating clearly and concisely the best plan for each individual. He establishes strong basics with each horse and never vears from the Training Scale.
